VANCE COUNTY — Interstate 85 in Vance County is open to traffic after two tractor-trailers and a pick-up truck crashed near exit 220 in Vance County.
The tractor-trailer flipped and burned right at exit 220. The driver, who apparently fell asleep at the wheel, ran into the back of a pick-up truck that was the rear escort for another tractor-trailer.
Garbage scattered all over the road kept the southbound lanes of I-85 closed for several hours.
No one was seriously injured in the crash. The southbound lanes of the interstate have been closed since about 2:00 p.m. TheHighway Patrolexpects the road to remain closed through 6 p.m.
Traffic continues to be backed up while motorists slowly make their way off of I-85 and around the wreck. The suggested detour is exit 220 onto Fleming Road.
The accident involved two big rigs and a pick-up truck. There were some minor injuries. -->
