Fayetteville Police Make Dogfighting Arrests

Posted Updated

FAYETTEVILLE — Fayetteville Police have arrested 13 people for their involvement in a dog fight.

Officers broke up the fight in the Old Shaw Road Area early Sunday afternoon. They found five dogs; three of the dogs were hurt.

Police say three people were prodding the dogs with sticks.

They are charged with owning the dogs for the purpose of fighting.

Ten other people are accused of watching the fight.

All 13 of the charges are felonies.

Officers responded to Heritage Mobile Home Park after a tip from someone who knew the fight would take place.

Animal Control will keep the dogs until the courts determine what to do with them.
