WWF Rocks the ESA

Posted Updated

RALEIGH — Body slams and pile drivers rocked the Raleigh Entertainment and Sports Arena Monday night. A sold-out crowd packed the arena ring for theWorld Wrestling Federation's"Raw is War" tour.

Alonzo Burnett is a fan of the WWF. He brought his entire family out for what he calls "relaxing" entertainment.

"You're sitting at home with nothing to do, you just turn it on and get a laugh, a cry, whatever stimulates each individual," says Burnett.

The sport is no longer just for the guys. Wrestling is attracting women in record numbers.

Rob Sandborn brought his girlfriend Molly for her first WWF outing.

"I thought she'd enjoy it. She's always up for new things and her family kind of watches it a little," he says.

Another WWF event is scheduled at the ESA this summer. The "Summer Slam" tour comes to the ESA Sunday, August 27. Tickets go on sale Tuesday at noon.
