N.C. State Student Shot During Robbery at Fraternity House

Posted Updated

RALEIGH — According to police, members of an N.C. State fraternity managed to subdue an alleged armed robber, but not until one student had been shot. That student, William Earl Hendrix, is reported in stable condition in a local hospital.

Raleigh police have charged Dennard Jemal Frazier with assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill, armed robbery and possession of a stolen firearm.

Police said a gunman approached the Farm House fraternity around 2 a.m. and demanded money. As fraternity members reached for their wallets, the gunman raised his hand to hit Hendrix with the gun.

A struggle followed and the gunman fired one shot at Hendrix.

After the shooting, other fraternity members wrestled the gun away and held the suspect until police arrived.

Hendrix, a freshman, was shot in the chest.
