Two Raleigh Banks Robbed In One Day

RALEIGH, N.C. — Raleigh police are looking for men who robbed two Raleigh banks Monday.

The banks that were robbed were a Wachovia at 6623 Falls of Neuse Road shortly before 10 a.m. and a Wachovia on Creedmoor Road at about 2 p.m.

Police said the first bank was robbed at about 9:51 a.m. The two men were seen driving away in a black four-door Mitsubishi Galant.

Police said both men were black and in their mid-20s to about 30 years old. One man was about 5 feet 10 inches and weighed about 165 pounds. He was last seen wearing a dark jacket, authorities said.

The other man, described as having a dark complexion with an unkempt short afro, was about 5 feet 10 inches to 6 feet tall and weighed about 200 to 220 pounds. He was last seen wearing a white shirt with a gray sweatshirt, gray sweatpants and dirty tennis shoes.

The second robbery happened at 1:47 p.m. at 7600 Creedmoor Road. As in the first robbery, two men demanded and received an unspecified amount of money. No weapon was seen or displayed.

In the second robbery, a dye pack exploded as the robbers were leaving the scene in a tan Acura. One or both of the men may have red dye on their clothes or skin, police said.

Responding officers located the tan Acura abandoned on Stonecliff Drive in close to the bank. The car was reported stolen from Atlantic Tire in Cary.

In the second robbery, police said the robbers were black men, 6 feet to 6 feet 3 inches tall, heavyset, with one robber wearing a cloth over his face. The second man was wearing a toboggan.

Police have nto said whether the two robberies were related or whether any of the men involved in either of them were the same men.
