— Authorities have made a fourth arrest in connection with an Apex kidnapping in December.

Bennie Nathaniel Thompson, 23, was arrested early Saturday morning by Wake County authorities and U.S. Marshals at the Red Roof Inn on Highway 15-501 in Chapel Hill. He is being held in the Wake County Jail in lieu of $2 million bond.

Three other suspects - Kirk Smith, Margaret Singletary and Brandon Ingram -- have been arrested in connection with the Dec. 18 kidnapping of Vernon Harris II, who was taken from a relative's home on the 3000 block of Holland Road in Apex. Harris was later returned after his family paid a ransom.
