SAMPSON COUNTY — A bobcat attacked a girl and man in Sampson county over the weekend. Animal control officers worry that the bobcat might be rabid.
Quanocia Peterson, 4, has massive wounds left by the bobcat's claws. She had to have plastic surgery at UNC Hospitals in Chapel Hill. She was attacked in her front yard, while playing with a family friend.
"It was like steel claws on my back, and then, I looked down," said Marcus Hill, who was also attacked.
The bobcat is still on the loose. Sampson County animal control officers are trying to catch it. They think the bobcat is rabid because the animals usually do not attack humans.
