Fayetteville Selected For Test Census

Posted Updated

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — Fayetteville is one of only two areas in the country with a new distinction.

The city was picked along with San Joaquin County, Calif., for a census test run.

Fayetteville leaders say the city and the nine counties around it offer a good mix of urban and rural life. They plan to do a dress rehearsal in 2008.

Four-thousand temporary workers in the Sandhills will be hired for the project.

The real census will be held in 2010.
