A survey about teen driving habits found that 77 percent of teens admit to speeding while driving, and 86 percent say they ride as a passenger with another teen driver who speeds.
"There'll be a lot of people listening because of what just happened in Sampson County," said Harriet Southerland, a youth advocate who works closely with teen organizations. "I think this will affect what a lot of teenagers do over prom and graduation."
Southerland says that school administrators have been contacting her this week. They want information about raising awareness about the dangers of students making destructive decisions.
