RALEIGH — Some North Raleigh residents saw something that no homeowner wants to see -- fire creeping up near their backyards.
About three acres of a wooded area near the Dominion Park subdivision caught fire Saturday around 1 p.m. The fire came too close for comfort for some of the neighborhood's residents.
"I just put on an addition on my home, and those flames were coming closer," said homeowner Quintin Meighan. "I would hate to have built an addition and have it burned down the same day."
Firefighters from five departments joined the Forestry Service to extinguish the blaze.
