Chapel Hill Police Arrest Peeping Suspect

Posted Updated

CHAPEL HILL — Chapel Hill police say they have arrested a man equipped with a video camera after being spotted across the street from a sorority house.

John Thomas Whitt, 48, of Raleigh, was charged with misdemeanor peeping.

Police say someone saw Whitt atop the roof of a two-story building looking into the sorority. Investigators say Whitt was equipped with a video camera and case, extra tapes and batteries.

Whitt's first court appearance is scheduled for March 26. He was arrested for peeping into a different sorority last February and ordered to undergo eight hours of psychotherapy. From staff and wire reports
