ROCKY MOUNT — An international fast food chain is saying thanks to eastern North Carolina.
Hardee'scelebrated its 40th birthday Thursday in Rocky Mount by selling food at 1961 prices. Customers packed into the restaurants to buy burgers for just 15 cents.
The Hardee's parent company is based in California, but there is still a strong loyalty in eastern North Carolina.
"I've lived here for 25 years now, and it is the only place that I go," says customer Tom Daughtery. "For many years, there was no McDonald's. There was only Hardee's, and I stayed with Hardee's."
The 15-cent hamburgers and 20-cent cheeseburgers were offered until 7 p.m. at all corporate-owned Hardee's restaurants.
