RALEIGH — Golf brought Michael Jordan to North Carolina Friday.

"His Airness" was in Greenville for the 1999 Michael Jordan Celebrity Golf Classic. He and a slew of celebrities were hitting the greens to raise money for theRonald McDonald Housesof North Carolina.

Jordan's tournament has raised $1.5 million over the last 14 years.

Folks were also teeing off at the Fourth Annual John Baker Golf Classic.

The tournament has served as a fundraiser for a variety of causes. This year, 160 golfers came from all over the area to participate.

"They're not just from the Sheriff's Office. There's only a few from the Sheriff's Office. These people are from Wake County, and some came from New Hanover County and Guilford Gounty. They came from all around," said Wake County Sheriff John Baker.

Tournament organizers hope to raise $5,000 this year. The money will go toward a courthouse kids center in Wake County; the center provides somewhere for parents to leave their kids when they have to go to court.
