HILLSBOROUGH — Special Olympics athletes and coaches from Nepal arrived in the Triangle Sunday for the World Games.

They are among 10,000 delegates who will fly into Raleigh-Durham International Airport this week.

The Nepal group will spend the next few days in Hillsborough, soaking up the local culture in their host town.

Their week will start with a visit to a petting zoo. Thursday they will be at a baseball game, throwing the first pitch with the Burlington Indians. Their agenda will include additional activities to get the international visitors acquainted with North Carolina history and culture, and tours of the town.

Special Olympics volunteers are staffing a welcome center at a hangar near the airport.
