NEW HILL — What better timing? On a weekend that is regarded as the unofficial start of summer, Wake County has opened its newest and largest park.
The gates opened for the first time at Harris Lake County Park this holiday weekend.
The 680-acre tract of land near Shearon Harris Nuclear Plant features picnic areas, day shelters, a playground, and a playing field.
In addition, the park is surrounded by five miles of lake shoreline, ponds, and acres of woods.
