AirTran Jet at RDU Being Checked for Smoke

Posted Updated

DURHAM — A jet parked at Raleigh-Durham International Airport is being checked over after a report of smoke in the cabin.

A ground crew member saw the smoke in an AirTran DC-9 Saturday night.

The jet had arrived from Atlanta and the passengers were already off the plane. Officials say a faulty heating unit was the source of the smoke.

No one was on board the plane at the time of the incident.
