Grand Jury May Reconsider Evidence on Food Lion Employee

Posted Updated

RALEIGH — A grand jury in Raleigh may reconsider the beating death of a suspected supermarket robber.

Police say Jason Cort died after he tried to run from the Food Lion store on Avent Ferry Road in Raleigh.

Last month, a grand jury refused to indict a store employee who police say stopped Cort and beat him. That decision infuriated Cort's family.

If the grand jury reconvenes they won't necessarily indict the employee, but will take another look at the evidence.
