RALEIGH, N.C. — A 14-year-old Raleigh girl who was hit by a car on Western Boulevard last week has died, authorities said.

Joanne Marie Conyers, of 3900 Neeley St., was crossing the road in the 3900 block of Western Boulevard, in front of Amedeo’s Italian Restaurant, on the night of April 10 when she was hit by an eastbound 1989 Toyota, police said.

Conyers' cousin, who was crossing the street with her, wasn't injured in the incident.

Evelyn Conyers said her daughter died Wednesday afternoon, but hospital equipment kept her body functioning so some of her organs could be transplanted.
