EUREKA — A 12-year-old migrant worker died when she was struck by lightning in a Wayne County tobacco field Thursday.
The chief of police and emergency crews tried to revive Lilia Arellano, but she was later pronounced dead at Wayne Memorial Hospital.
The farmer who owns the field had just pulled up and ordered the workers out of the field.
They were leaving when Arellano was hit by a lightning bolt.
