MORGANTON — If your weekend plans include traveling on Interstate-40 in the western part of the state, it's time to make new plans. The highway is closed in both directions through Burke County.
A tanker truck crashed into a bridge Friday afternoon. The truck caught fire causing the highway overpass to collapse.
One person was killed.
I-40 will remain closed at least until the debris is cleared from the Interstate.
