Fran Still Evident

Fallen trees are found in and around many streams (WRAL-TV5 News)
DURHAM — For almost two years, hikers alongside Durham's streams and creeks have had a reminder of Hurricane Fran -- piled up debris on the banks and in the water.

A major push begins this week to clear away the mess, much of it created by downed trees and broken limbs.

People will be busy picking up the debris at 17 sites.

Hurricane Fran roared through North Carolina in September two years ago. The largest part of the clean-up was accomplished long ago, but pockets of "reminders" remain here and there.
