MORRISVILLE — Some morning commuters will have to take an alternate route to work Wednesday morning. The Department of Transportation has closed a section of N.C. 54 at Airport Boulevard in Morrisville due to a water main break
According to the DOT, traffic is being detoured over McCrimmon Parkway, Church Street, and Morrisville-Carpenter Road. Airport Boulevard traffic should use McCrimmon Parkway and N.C. 54.
The water main broke Tuesday morning, but it took crews a while to track down the exact spot, backing up afternoon rush hour traffic for miles.
Repairs are expected to take at least 24 hours.
Area residents having problems with their water are asked to call469-4012.
