MOCKSVILLE — Misdemeanor charges against a midwife who was working without a license were dropped Thursday on a technicality. The Davie County judge said the warrant was improperly written.
Amy Medwin has attended 750 births in Davie County since 1979.
By law in North Carolina midwives must be certified nurses. Medwin does have a national midwife certification, but is not a nurse.
District attorney Rob Taylor says he intends to re-file the warrant.
