RALEIGH, N.C. — Raleigh is weighing in on weight loss, as Raleigh Mayor Charles Meeker unveiled a 60-day fitness challenge for city residents on Saturday.

A 672 sq. ft. billboard will be used to keep track of the total pounds lost during the campaign. About 2,000 participants have already signed up.

"Some of the fitness clubs got together with Wake County and some of the colleges and decided to see if we could get our community into better shape and lose some weight at the same time,” Meeker said.

The billboard, donated by Fairway Outdoor Advertising, will be placed on Capitol Boulevard near Buffalo Road.
