Raleigh Mayor Takes Out Restraining Order

Posted Updated

RALEIGH — Raleigh Mayor Tom Fetzer has taken a new legal avenue to try to protect himself against a woman he claims continues to stalk him.

Fetzer took out a restraining order against Valerie Daye just before the start of the holiday weekend.

Charges against Daye were dismissed when a judge decided she was incompetent to stand trial.

The mayor says soon after Daye was released from Dorothea Dix Hospital, she started phoning him and driving by his home.

The restraining order forbids her from doing that anymore.

A hearing on the matter is set for later this week.
