Flag Flap Moves to Statehouse

Posted Updated

RALEIGH — The state senate is expected to start a debate over the stars and stripes today.

If a resolution is approved, it would allow Wake County Representative Russell Capps to file a bill exempting local businesses from an ordinance that limits the size of flags they're allowed to fly.

The House has already approved the resolution debate.

Lately, several North Carolina businesses have been in the news because of their refusal to comply with local ordinances that limit the dimensions of American flags that are on display. The restriction on size has angered many citizens and veterans' organizations.
