Hickory Manager Served Beanieless Unhappy Meals

Posted Updated

HICKORY — Hickory police think the lure of all those highly-sought Beanie Babies proved too much for one McDonalds manager.

They've charged Michael Huffstetler with stealing more than 700 of the stuffed toys from a McDonalds in Hickory.

The Teenie Beanies, which were available only at McDonalds restaurants, were supposed to be free with the purchase of a McDonalds Happy Meal.

Rather, according to investigators, the Beanies were sold at yard sales and flea markets for a dollar apiece.

Huffstetler no longer works at the Golden Arches.
