1 Killed in Accident on Durham's Miami Boulevard

Durham, N.C. — Durham police are investigating a fatal traffic accident that occurred Thursday evening on South Miami Boulevard near Stirrup Creek Drive.
The accident happened around 5:48 p.m. when a southbound 1991 Toyota Corolla crossed the center line into the northbound lane and collided head-on with a northbound 2004 Acura driven by Jayshree Mistry, 30, of Hoboken, N.J.
The impact caused the Corolla to spin into the southbound lanes into the path of a 2007 Dodge pickup truck driven by Gerald Koucky, 68, of Mentor, Ohio.
The driver of the Corolla, Daniel Genovesis, was pronounced dead at the scene. Mistry was taken to Duke University Hospital for treatment of serious injuries. Koucky was not injured.
The Toyota and Acura were total losses. The Dodge pickup sustained minor damage.
No charges have been filed.
The accident slowed traffic on South Miami Boulevard for approximately two hours.
