CLINTON — Clinton police report that they have found and identified the body of an elderly woman who had been missing since Tuesday. The woman disappeared from a nursing home before 10 a.m. Tuesday.
Police found the body of 72-year-old Matelyolene Jackson Tuesday afternoon around 3. Both the Chatham County Sheriff's department and North Carolina Highway Patrol participated in the search. The body was found near the Heritage Care nursing home in Clinton.
Authorities say the woman apparently died of natural causes. They do not suspect foul play in either her death or her disappearance.
They say they do not plan to file any charges against the nursing home. identified
