<b>DURHAM</b> — A popular beach at Jordan Lake will re-open Thursday.

Final sediment tests at the Vista Point swimming area no longer show elevated levels of fecal contamination. Health officers say a shigellosis outbreak earlier this month was caused by swimmers using the lake as a restroom.

Follow-up tests on beach sediment will be now done on a weekly basis.
