DURHAM, N.C. — Police arrested a suspect involved in a pursuit that spanned two counties Tuesday.

According to Apex police investigators, deputies from the Durham County Sheriff’s Department began pursuing Jesus Rivera Colon, who was driving a stolen Suzuki Forenza, on N.C. 55 in Durham County.

When Colon crossed into Wake County, the state Highway Patrol joined the pursuit. During the chase, officers deployed stop sticks that blew out one front tire. Another tire blew when the car hit a curb.

After driving through Wake County on Highway 55, Colon jumped out of the vehicle and fled on foot at the intersection with Olive Chapel Road at Haddon Hall Commons. He was captured a short time later.

Police believe that the car Colon drove Tuesday was his second stolen car in two days. He got away Monday after nearly hitting a Durham officer, they said.

Durham sheriff’s officials said their investigation was ongoing.

They took Colon back to Durham to face several charges related to the stolen car and chase.
