FUQUAY-VARINA — Hundreds of students at a Wake County high school spent part of the morning outdoors Tuesday, because of a gas leak.

About 8 a.m., a construction crew working on an addition to the school pierced a gas line at Fuquay-Varina High, forcing an evacuation.

Students waited for the football field while a gas crew responded to fix the leak. Students were out of class for nearly two hours.

No one was injured.
