Beltline Accident Kills One, Delays Traffic

RALEIGH — Traffic is back to normal this morning, after a three-car collision closed the beltline for hours yesterday.

The cars crashed between the Athens Drive Bridge and Melbourne Road. Forty-seven-year-old Linda Blackwell of Apex died in the crash. Two other people were hurt. Police shut down the northbound lanes of 440 for nearly four hours.

Traffic was backed up for miles. The road re-opened around 8:00 last night. No word on what caused the crash.
