FAYETTEVILLE — A nine-year-old boy was shot in the face in Cumberland county. Police said that he was the victim of a drive-by shooting in the Bonny Doone area.
The victim's family said that they heard about 20 shots behind their home, and did not realize that any bullets had hit their house.
The family said that they saw blood on the boy's cheek, and thought he had a nose bleed. Once they realized that it was a gun wound, the family called the police.
The boy is not seriously hurt and will survive.
Police have not made any arrest and are taking statements from the families.
