RALEIGH — A festival pleasing to the eyes and ears is getting ready to explode in downtown Raleigh. Get ready for a weekend of fun with Artsplosure! This annual festival of arts and music offers something for everyone.

If you're looking for the unusual, you'll find it here. N.C. State School of Design professor, Will Hooker and student, Jeff Stuhmer make a big impression with their creation of giant bamboo bowling pins and balls.

The pins are 8 feet tall and the balls are 5 feet around. Audiences will even be invited to play!

You can see their work at Moore Square Park in Raleigh Saturday, May 16 from 10 a.m. until 7 p.m. and Sunday, May 17 from 11 a.m. until 6 p.m.

Artists of all kinds will be part of Artsplosure. Nearly 200 in all will gather for the largest juried art exhibit Raleigh's ever seen.

Plus, more than 30 musicians and groups will perform during the course of the festival. One of the headline bands is Los Lobos, which will be on stage at the North Carolina Museum of Art tonight (Friday, May 15) at 8 p.m. Tickets range in cost from $15 - $18. For ticket information, call839-6262, ext. 2152.
