RALEIGH — An accident that could have been devised by Rube Goldberg held up traffic on Raleigh's inner beltline late Monday morning.
A car lost its drive shaft near the exit for Six Forks Road. The shaft bounced along the roadway, hitting a tanker.
The force of the shaft ruptured the tanker's gas tank.
About 150 gallons spilled, some of it going into a storm sewer that eventually feeds into Crabtree Creek.
Local firefighters and crews from the NC Department of Transportation responded to contain the spill.
Traffic is now back to normal.
