Posted Updated

CLINTON — Police are finally releasing details about the death of a veteran Sampson County teacher.

Phyllis Kinsey was found dead in her house Thursday after she failed to show up for work. The medical examiner says Kinsey was slashed several times during an apparent robbery.

Police say they think they recovered the murder weapon. They also have a suspect, but they have yet to bring the person in for questioning.

Kinsey, a teacher for 30 years, spent the last 17 years teaching at Kerr Elementary in Clinton.
