Flooding Threatens Some Robeson Residents

Posted Updated

LUMBERTON — Some residents along the Lumber River are looking at water -- but it's in their front yards and covering their roads.

The waters are rising in the area's streams and rivers, and in some spots people may have to move.

County officials want to buy dozens of homes that have flooded five times this year. Most flood victims say it couldn't happen soon enough, as long as they are compensated for what they are leaving.

County officials say they'll formally ask for the money needed for the buy-outs from state and federal governments.
