SACRAMENTO — An accused child molester who disappeared from North Carolina has turned himself in to the FBI thousands of miles away.
James Russell surrendered Saturday to the FBI in Sacramento, California.
Back in September, police arrested Russell on charges of molesting an 11-year-old girl at a Durham Home Depot store.
The store's surveillance video helped police identify Russell, and charge him with kidnapping and taking indecent liberties. Russell was released on bond, then disappeared.
Aware Russell was on the loose, Durham shoppers were on alert, and kept their children close.
This morning, Durham police confirm Russell was also wanted on federal charges.
