ROCKY MOUNT — After days worth of heavy rains a Nash County private school decided to call it quits. Enfield Academy sent students home Wednesday morning after hearing that the Whitakers sewer system could not handle any more water usage. The school will open two hours late Thursday.
City leaders say they were concerned the town's system might not handle last nights rain. It appears the system is working fine, but officials want to delay the school's opening just to be safe.
Flooding on rural roads has also forced Edgecombe, Nash, Greene and Robeson county schools to delay the school day Thursday by one hour.
