FRANKLINTON — It is the first Sunday in over a decade that services were not held at the New Jerusalem Church in Franklinton.

The fire destroyed the 85-year-old building Wednesday. The investigation into the cause continues. Sunday, church members had to worship elsewhere. People continue to drive by this landmark, seeing memories buried in the ashes.

"I remember running through the building from floor to floor," said Novella Perry. "It was a big place. Now it's not here any more."

"It makes me feel pretty bad," added church member Willie Perry.

So far the church has not decided if its going to relocate or try to rebuild in that same spot.
