Flexliner Tries to Wow the Public

Flexliner offers new transportation options (WRAL-TV5 News)
RALEIGH — Transportation for tomorrow's commuter will be rolling through North Carolina again today.

Its Danish manufacturers hope that showing off the Flexliner will endear it to transportation officials.

Today it will go from Raleigh to Fayetteville; yesterday 4,000 people in Cary came out for a 15-minute free ride to Apex.

The Flexliner is self-propelled and does not require a locomotive. While its sleek new design is attractive, the main goal is to offer motorists an alternative to Triangle traffic.

The Department of Transportation has funding for the project. A high-tech train of some design, Danish or not, is expected to be here permanently in the year 2004.
