Authorities Identify Victim In Rocky Mount Homicide

ROCKY MOUNT, N.C. — Police were at the scene Tuesday night investigating what they called a homicide on

Shearin Street

, a residential area of Rocky Mount located northeast of downtown in Edgecombe County.

Police and fire crews arrived to the scene around 8 p.m. Tuesday to respond to a call about a fire. Firefighters put out a small fire in the backyard, but police found 27-year-old Adika Jones lying in the yard. Police say he was shot multiple times.

There is no word on whether Jones lived at the home.

Investigators said that they did not have a motive for the crime. Authorities say they are looking for a few people, but would not say anything about possible suspects.

The investigation is expected to continue Wednesday.
