More Jobs for Raleigh: Dimension Data To Expand Its Capital City Presence

Posted Updated

RALEIGH, N.C. — Dimension Data is greatly expanding its presence in Raleigh, citing an increase in demand for Internet Protocol telephony and other services.

The firm has moved its Raleigh center employees to a new headquarters at 801 Corporate Center, which is home to 42 employees. Headcount in the capital city operation is up by 25 percent over the past year. The new office space doubles the size of its previous location.

Dimension Data is a $2.7 billion global information technology services provider based in Hauppauge, NY.

To further accommodate growth in the region, Dimension Data is also creating a small and medium business division. It also has added an additional four employees and is looking to hire additional workers, including engineering and sales personnel.

The Triangle Business Journal quoted a company official as saying as many as 40 more jobs will be created.

"Raleigh is an important market for us. With strong sales in the Mid-Atlantic and a solid base of skilled employees, it makes sense to expand our business in North Carolina and to establish Raleigh as the home of the SMB team," said Bob Cagnazzi, chief executive officer of Dimension Data North America. "American small and medium businesses are taking a queue from large organizations and are increasingly turning to Dimension Data to plan, build and support their IT infrastructure projects. The launch of the SMB group, in addition to our Commercial and Enterprise teams, will allow us to better serve each of these markets."

Among the four new employees is Bob Thompsen, who will serve as national sales manager for the new small and medium business group. Thompsen most recently worked for Pharmacare Special Pharmacy in Fort Worth, TX, leading a team of 32 sales representatives. He also was a group manager of sales for Cisco Systems.

Kevin Dempsey also is part of the new group, named as territory manager. He worked most recently at Good Technology and has more than 10 years of sales experience, including a stint with Cisco.

Also joining the company are Cynthia Reason as a renewals specialist and Lynell Fleming as renewals contract administrator.
