Chapel Hill Police Investigate Series Of Break-Ins

Posted Updated

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. — Authorities in Chapel Hill are asking for the public's assistance to solve a series of break-ins.

According to police, four businesses -- Hatfield-Berrang, Café Parvaneh, The Purple Puddle and Graham Street Market -- were broken between Dec. 15 and 16. Authorities say in all four incidents, a window or glass door was broken.

"They all involved someone smashing a plate glass window or a glass door to enter," said Chapel Hill Police Department spokeswoman Jane Cousins.

Surveillance video taken at the scene of one of the break-ins shows the suspect as a male with a beard and mustache.

Investigators plan to compare notes and surveillance tapes with Cary police to see if the break-ins are related to similar break-ins in Cary, where 18 businesses have been burglarized in the past month.
