SANFORD, N.C. — Authorities are looking for the people responsible for placing a burning cross in Sanford late Friday night.
Sanford police say the cross was set on fire in a vacant lot at the intersection of Washington Avenue and Highway 87 around 10:20 p.m.
There are no suspects at this time and the cross has been removed.
Earlier in May, Durham police say three burning crosses were placed in different locations across the city. No one has been charged with setting those fires.
