Former Wake Teacher Pleads Guilty To Sex Charges

Posted Updated

RALEIGH, N.C. — A former Wake County elementary school teacher admits he sexually abused a student.

Christopher Journigan pleaded guilty Thursday to having sex with a student and taking indecent liberties with a child.

Police charged him with molesting two boys -- ages 11 and 12. At least one was a student at Zebulon Elementary School, where Journigan taught. He lost his teaching job after his arrest in 2003.

As part of the plea deal, Journigan will avoid jail time, but he will spend five years on probation. He was scheduled to go on trial Monday.
