Be Careful Of Icy Patches During Morning Commute

Posted Updated

RALEIGH, N.C. — Overnight rains have state troopers and state Department of Transportation workers on alert Tuesday morning.

In some areas, temperatures are cold enough to freeze some patches on the roads. Some cars have been reportedly sliding off the roads in parts of Person County.

Some school systems are operating on a delay schedule. Alamance County schools are operating on a two-hour delay, Mecklenburg County, Va. schools are on a one-hour delay and Person County schools are delayed until 10 a.m.

Bridges and overpasses are the areas most vulnerable to freezing.

The State Highway Patrol reported 44 accidents Monday in Wake County. That number includes wrecks only outside the city limits. They attribute most of those to the bad weather.
