PRINCETON, N.C. — One person died and three were injured in a wreck Sunday night during rain.

The North Carolina Highway Patrol said that a car traveling east on Highway 70 hit water in the roadway, lost control, crossed the center median and struck a vehicle traveling west head on.

Three passengers in the car heading east -- two adults in the front seat and a small child in back seat of car -- were transported to Johnston Memorial Hospital. The other back seat passenger was pronounced dead on scene.

Judit Sandoval, 31, from Albertson, died in the wreck, which happened around 7:45 p.m. on Highway 70 near Holts Pond.

Carlos Gomes Bartolon, 28, and Ervin Bartolon, 22, both of Dudley, are in serious condition at Johnston Memorial. The baby of the woman who died, Hannia Higuera, 1, of Albertson was taken to an area hospital.
