Raleigh Police Search For Assailant After Shooting

— Raleigh police are searching for an assailant after one person was shot Tuesday afternoon near a church at

2410 Creech Road


A spokesman for the Raleigh Police Department said 16-year-old Akeem Evans was shot in the hand and was transported to WakeMed with non-life-threatening injuries.

The victim told police that at about 2:45 p.m., he was approached and shot by another teenager, approximately 17 years old, that he did not know.

Investigators were searching on foot for the shooter in the vicinity of Southeast Raleigh High School, but are now following leads. Anyone with information that might be helpful to investigators is asked to call the Raleigh Police Department at
